Working at WellPet Vets

My wife and I came to Australia from the UK on a career break and to travel in 2011. When we decided to look for work, Nepean Animal Hospital was the first interview we went to. It's no exaggeration to say that meeting Tony and working at Wellpet changed our lives. Before starting at Wellpet, we were both becoming somewhat disillusioned with work. We worked in busy small animal clinics in London and it seemed like despite working extremely long hours and having succeeded in getting started into the career we had both wanted from childhood, there was something missing. We had intended initially on staying for a few months, topping up our bank balance and then moving on down the coast to the next destination. We ended up staying 18 months and then having to make a very difficult decision to move back to the UK to be with our family. We made some everlasting memories and some life long friends during our time at the clinic. Nepean Animal Hospital is a truly wonderful practice. From exciting emergency work (snake bites, tick paralysis), to work with local charities and wildlife centres, to gold standard veterinary care, there is an ethos that shines through every day- this is the best profession in the world and it is a privilege so enjoy it! Tony is an inspirational leader. He drives his business forward without losing site of the core values of being a vet first and foremost. The animals always come first. His encouragement and support and belief in me has helped me get to where I am today. I remember my time at Wellpet very fondly and would encourage anybody with the opportunity to join the team to seize it with both hands!

I worked at Nepean and Mountains Animal Hospital between 2006-2009. This was my first job as a veterinarian after graduating, and it laid the foundation for me to become a specialist veterinary surgeon. The owner, Tony, is a great veterinarian, astute business owner and has a big heart. We are still friends today. My journey afterward has taken me to working at prestigious international veterinary hospitals, but I don’t think any of that would have been possible without my time at Nepean. I would only encourage you to work there, as I remember it had an excellent caseload, was always growing, and the support staff and clients were great.

I began working as a veterinarian at Wellpet Vets 12 weeks pregnant in 2013.   I was surprised to be given the opportunity in the circumstance I was in, knowing I was going to take maternity leave in 6 months time.  The staff and management are extremely supportive and caring which makes for a fun positive working environment.  I have since come back full time and love working here. Wellpet Vets is truly a unique Veterinary Hospital where the animal’s health and wellbeing is always put first.  It puts my mind at ease knowing that all my patients are getting 24-hour care, 365 days a year.  Our goal is to always strive for the latest and best possible treatment for every patient whether it be wildlife, strays or clients pets, all animals receive the best possible care.  I love that Wellpet Vets actively supports continuing education.  I am currently learning orthopaedics which I find can be difficult but very rewarding.  After spending the last 2 years in the busy Nepean Animal Hospital I have been given the opportunity to help manage the Mountains branch.

I became part of the WellPet team in 2012 working as a veterinary nurse at the Nepean and Mountains animal hospital. I have loved every moment of working at WellPet with my vet family, we are always giving the most high standard of care to all our furry patients that come through our doors. I work as one of the puppy preschool trainers here at WellPet running classes at least twice to three times a week. We are always participating in further animal behaviour training to ensure we are providing the best possible puppy preschool course we can. I absolutely love teaching all the puppies and their families every week. We are now a 24/7 emergency hospital at Nepean which is the only one the western Sydney area and we now also have our St Clair animal hospital, we are always growing. WellPet is a very friendly, happy, hard working and professional environment to work in. We all share the same love for animals and always support each other.

I started working at WellPet vets in March 2015. I began working as a receptionist at our Nepean Animal Hospital, but then transitioned over to Practice Manager at our St Clair Animal Hospital. In this role, I manage the day to day running of the practice as well as working alongside the vets to perform vet nursing duties and supervise TAFE nursing students on a daily basis. I have learnt so much in my time at WellPet and have grown both personally and professionally & thoroughly enjoy my role as Practice Manager and what each day brings.

I started working for WellPet Vets in 2013, and since this time, I have been given the opportunity to gain lots of experience and greatly develop my nursing abilities. WellPet has always provided me with a platform to learn new skills and challenge myself, and my colleagues are always encouraging and supportive. During my time at WellPet I have been given the opportunity to co-manage puppy preschool classes and have been sent to complete further behavioural education in order to make the classes as up to date and practical as possible. The fact that my place of work supports me in developing my own interests whilst also benefiting our patients makes it very easy to get up and go to work in the morning.
